About the Artist
Jane Palestini is a fiber artist from Chester County, PA. On a trip to Australia she learned about nuno felting, melding wool fibers into light fabric such as silk, and fell in love with this art form, which was originally developed in Australia. She began a process of teaching herself and taking workshops, mainly making scarves; later moving on to making felted pictures and items such as table runners, pillow covers and handbags. She loves the tactile nature of working with wool and the range of colors and designs that can be used.
While Jane is felting, one of her cats, Bella, loves to be part of the process, demanding attention as cats are wont to do just when you are busy doing something else..... so when it came to thinking of a name for the website Bella insisted on being a part of it..... hence Bella Feltworks.
Jane teaches felting workshops at CHester County Art Association and takes commissions mainly for making scarves using silk fabric and merino wool roving. What she enjoys about teaching felting is that anyone regardless of artistic ability can make a beautiful item which is truly a work of art.
